Fall Twist and Pop Card

Yes, I know this is SO last year, but with all the packing and moving I couldn't ever find time to try one of these ingenious interactive cards.  And I'm hooked!

I'm kinda past Fall cards and into Halloween but I did want to participate in the BBTB2 Autumn challenge this week so I checked my Pinterest Techniques board and rediscovered the Twist and Pop card.

I followed the tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers and was just so intrigued with the mechanism.  Cool!  The leaves are from CTMH Artiste and the font I used for the word 'Fall' is Liberty Regular.  The sweet little sentiment stamp comes from Sunny Studio

Because I can't just follow directions and be done, I tried and tried and tried to figure out how to make the card open horizontally, rather than vertically.  It was a fail, but DH is convinced he can make a mechanism that will do this so stay tuned!  (However, if you know of a link to someone who has already figured this out, let me know and I'll present him with a fait accompli! LOL)   Thanks for visiting with me today.  : )  Christine

Hoo's Having a Birthday?

The summer prior to my last year of teaching, I decided that I would do something that I'd always wanted to do - give my classroom a theme!   I chose 'owls' and had a ball decorating, labeling and embellishing.  Since I had 40+ Kinders, I used every Cricut owl image I could find.  What I didn't anticipate was all the cute little owl themed gifts the parents found for Teacher Appreciation Day and the holidays!   Fun!!!!

The challenge over at Bitten By The Bug 2, this week, is to use an owl on your project.  Using 'All Images' on Design Space, I searched for an owl that I hadn't ever used and I found one on the CTMH Artiste cart.  He is such a  colorful party animal that I needed to put him on a birthday card.

The trifold card comes from Wild Card and is cut at a height of 5 inches.   The owl on the front comes from Live Simply, and the sentiment, from Hoot n Holler.  I had to leave the outside clean and simple because I wanted to use my Explore to write on the inner part of the card.

The inner liner paper actually has a couple of owls on it but unfortunately, they got covered up!  And, the paper is so busy that the party confetti I cut  disappeared into the background.  A scattering of sequins saved the day.

This was such a fun challenge.  Pop over to BBTB2 and admire the variety of owls that the DT utilized. : )    Thanks for visiting with me today.   Christine  : )

Valentine Treat Boxes

One of my favorite things about Martha Stewart stacks is that you get 3 pieces of each design.   That gives me one piece of card stock to mess up on and two to do the project.  However, there are always a couple of designs that I have NO idea how to use and I usually cut a sample project from this kind of paper.   To my surprise, this busy, busy pattern worked very well with this simple little box cut from the Artiste cart!  Ha!

The label and decorative flourish were cut from matching foil and also come from the Artiste cart.

The sentiment, "Happy Valentine's Day" is from the Silhouette store and I used the Offset button to create the shadow.  My machines play so nicely together.  Wonder if they'd like another playmate - one that has its world launch this week?  I think so!!!!!

I am linking my treat boxes in the Cardz TV 3-D Valentine challenge.  Have a look at the DT's creations here.    Lots of inspiration!
